New November 1st Cloudberry Releases!

Four new singles in one day!

It feels like the last batch of Cloudberry singles came out just yesterday, and now here comes four more, out today, November 1st! Today's releases include singles from Komon, The Jealous Sea, Blind Terry, and The Pristines. As with all Cloudberry singles, you could buy all of these on a whim and be totally sure you'll end up loving them – but here's a taste of each single anyway, just to make that decision a little bit easier!

[MP3]: Komon :: A Good Start
Excellent Pipas-esque drum machine pop from Sweden!

[MP3]: The Jealous Sea :: Past The Grey
Shimmering, dreamy indiepop from Florida! Think early Sarah Records.

[MP3]: Blind Terry :: The Subtle Art of How to Break a Heart
60s-tinged pop sort of in the vein of Saturday Looks Good To Me.

[MP3]: The Pristines :: Good Things Never Come Despite The Wait
Sunday Records veterans still making some great jangly noise.

I'm not particularly good at picking favorites, but I have to say I'm extremely impressed – and in love – with that Blind Terry song. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of them here in the coming weeks and months, perhaps along with some of the others! Please visit Cloudberry Records to grab one or two or all of these! I couldn't think of a better way to spend your money.

That's like asking in the late 80s, which one you'd prefer, a flexi or a 7". Or even a 7" single or a 12" single. I guess there's no reason to argue as you can see people bidding for any format on ebay. Even cassette demos! So it's not about that. Indiepop is not about a format but a feeling, an attitude, indiepop is about JOY.

Of course, like any indiepopkid out there, I love my vinyl. So as I already said on the fanzine and on the bulletins, there will be 7" singles soon. So no need to get creepy!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND why these little labels don't sell digital versions of their music. WHY? WHY?

Uh, downloadable digital versions, that is.

tangibility is part of their M.O.

But that limits their business so much...

yes, to the people that really want it. none of these small labels were started to be a "business"...

these aren't for sale for digital downloads because they aren't real releases. bands will rerelease these songs on their album or as pains of being pure at heart did on another EP.

Wow, who would've thought that some sweet little mini cd-r's would touch on what's apparently a very raw nerve! Seems rather like objecting to cookies and milk. On the upside, who says that indiepop isn't subversive/confrontational?

Kip from Pains of Being Pure at Heart here...

First-- I feel The Cloudberry series is one of the most exciting things going on in indiepop right now. I'm consistently amazed by the quality (and volume) of bands Roque is releasing almost every week! It's really a great thing, and it was an honor to be a part of the series.

I just wanted to clarify that the reason we used some songs that appeared on our cloudberry single on our EP was to not artificially limit people's ability to hear our music.

As our cloudberry single is now sold out, i think this worked out really well. People who own it have something tangible and special.

But people who may want to hear the songs can still find them in another format.

(our Cloudberry single came out several months before our EP was available)

And yes, 7" singles are fantastic too-- but financially difficult to pull off-- especially on this scale.

We really love Roque & Cloudberry a lot-- he's really doing it for all the right reasons. Please do check the bands he's putting out-- it's all quality.
