A Good Day for some Juniper

Sunny blue sky! thanks for nothing photobooth.

Video for "Making Gerard Smile" by San Francisco band Juniper. This was Juniper's first single, released in 1996 on the Orange Label. The Following year they released a second single, "Think and Die Thinking" on Fantastic Records. Both are very worth your money if you can track them down. Which you should do, of course.

They started in DC and then moved to SF mid-way. So I guess you're both right. I have some live performances from shows I set up in LA from 1996. They're on VHS, so I need to digitize (which means I'll never get to it). Did you like anything from The Mondo Crescendo days? I felt like they were very overlooked at the time.

Rich, I hope you enjoy those singles. :)

Oh The Mondo Crescendo is what Juniper renamed itself after releasing those three singles. They had two albums on Blackbean: "Get Faded" and "Young, Naked & Very With It." I remember there were one or two good songs on "Get Faded." The later album was a bit too slick for me.

I don't have their stuff anymore so I can't put up any songs for you to hear, but if you run across Get Faded for cheap, pick it up.

Yeah, they later formed The Mondo Crescendo. They had a couple of 7"s too. It's really nice stuff too, same vein as Juniper.

After Juniper I think the girl formed a rock band called the Vexers. Not my cup of tea!

And about Juniper you are missing their first 7" which was released on A Turntable Friend. Orange Peel single came second. Im pretty sure, but I could be wrong, both are from 1996!! Anyways, I was on the lookout of the band as well, so it's funny that you posted about them before. So most probably Ill have an interview with them instead :)
