The Airfields are pretty much incredible – basically one of the best bands out there right now, really. Their Laneways EP is one of my very favorite records of the past two years, and with the new album currently being mixed, hopefully we'll see it by the end of the year or possibly early 2008.

Until then, though, they've just released a new single titled "Yr So Wonderful" on the also wonderful Cloudberry Records. "Yr So Wonderful" proves again my theory that The Airfelds cannot write a bad song. The new single packs a bit more of a punch than most of what we saw on Laneways, churning away right from the start with squalls of feedback, rapid-fire snare rolls, and dense Farfisa organ coating everything in a thick icy haze. Every Airfields song I've heard makes me feel like I'm caught in some kind of snow storm, but "Yr So Wonderful" feels like an full-blown blizzard.
