Fall is almost here!

I love Fall. This really shouldn't be any kind of secret to anyone that even knows me in the very most remote way. The connection between so much of the music I love and the many smells and sensations of this upcoming season is kind of uncanny, but it's something I've come to truly look forward to every year. There's nothing like putting on the perfect record and going for a walk or even a drive outside in that crispier than crisp air. Anyway, the mix. Well here it is. Take it out for a ride! It would be a little better if it weren't still 90 degrees during the day, but what can you do?

The Very Most: Autumn EP

The Very Most

I've never much investigated The Very Most until late last week, when I found out about their new Autumn EP on Indiecater Records! Now, regardless of how little I know about a particular band, I love Autumn too much to ever pass on an EP that is seemingly dedicated to it. Not so surprisingly it's three tracks of warm, welcoming indiepop. On "Autumn Air" the vocals are an absolute delight. The vocals alternate between male and female lead and backups that sound oh so sweet to the ears. Give it a listen!

A monthly mix: September!

Crafted for Fall.

It's monthly mix time again! Just in time for school! I got really excited making this mix because I got to make it seasonally appropriate. Autumn, as some may know, is my number one favorite season of all and it's finally just around the corner! It's just starting to get a little colder at night and that great Autumn smell is just starting to work it's way into the air! There some obviously titled songs (see: MLS and The Castaway Stones tracks), some that just really remind me of Fall (see: Gaze and Pants Yell!) along with a bunch of other new and old tracks that I think you'll find quite fantastic and fitting. I hope that you enjoy it!

Hopefully now that I'll be in more of a set schedule with school, I'll be posting more, too! I've got a lot of great stuff that I want to get up here!

New Clientele LP!!!

New Clientele LP due October 6th on Merge! YES! I can't wait to hear these new songs. Not to mention that that cover might already be one of my favorites of all time. It's stunning! After hearing the album lead-off track "I Wonder Who We Are" – which you can hear HERE – I have a very good feeling that this record is going to make Fall even better than it normally is. Summer Into Fall!: A new Skatterbrain mix!

As the scenery outside my window begins to change from green to yellow, I thought perhaps it was a good time for a new mix in honor of this most special of seasonal transitions! I wanted to keep it short, because I hate long meandering mixes, and because at nine songs it felt complete and I didn't want to tarnish it. I don't know if it's the best mix I've ever made, but I think it's pretty good, and appropriate to the theme. It starts out like a party, with the sun shining bright above, and as the tracks progress the air begins to get a little colder, and the days start to seem a little shorter. Of course, that's no reason at all to stop the party.

Skatterbrain October Mix

My favorite thing to do on this blog is to make mixes, and I'd like to assume that most of you all like when I make mixes, so I've decided to start doing monthly mixes. The Slightly Premature "Fall is Here!" Mix

I'm in love with chilly weather and I don't care who knows it!

The title pretty much says it all, guys. I got my first breath of brisk Fall air today and I was ecstatic. I love more than anything in the world, I've been waiting months for it and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So that's why I made this mix. It's the essence of Fall, it's got lows and highs, acoustic guitars and fuzzy electric ones, boy voices and girl voices, it's pumpkin pie and a wool scarf in musical form, it's the sound of wonder and amazement, and it's early!
