Looks a bit more like Spring, but what can you do?

Hey folks! It's Monthly Mix time again! This is actually a special monthly mix in that it is the first one ever to be 100% comprised of new songs. Since I haven’t actually been posting on the blog too much these days, I figured I’d use this months mix to share some of my most favorite new bands, new records, and new songs from the past month or two. A monthly mix: November 2010!

After what was a somewhat disappointingly mild October, November is finally here and has brought with it some seriously cold weathers. Some may wonder why dropping temperatures is any kind of a good thing. Well, for someone who's listening habits tend to be guided almost exclusively by the changes in the weather, November's relatively frigid days and nights have brought some much loved bands and songs back into my life. This mix is my opportunity to share them (and a few new-found favorites) with you guys. I hope you enjoy the crap out of it.

A monthly mix: November!

November!

Didn't quite make it by the first, but yes, it is indeed monthly mix time again! November is looking pretty good so far – leaves are really coming off the trees now and sweater weather is almost in full swing! This mix was sort based stylistically around the fact that I just HAD to put a Spinanes song on it, and it just HAD to be "Hawaiian Baby", and then the rest of the mix just sort of fell into place. Lots of 90s, and if I'm not mistaken, all American bands, too. This mix, like most of the monthly mixes, is a pretty good representation of where my tastes are lying at the moment. You Can't Have It All: A November Mix

Stuff I'm liking a lot at the moment – the moment being November, of course.

November! A time of cold days, sweaters, scarves, really good pine-scented candles, rain, and last, but not least, a very much welcomed break from my typical perpetual business. Though I may not write much about music when I'm busy, that definitely doesn't mean I'm not listening to it, so in the spirit of such logic, I present a new mix! You Can't Have It All collects a little new and a little old – a smattering of my listening habits over the past several weeks. I think it's safe to say that the weather's had a pretty big effect on most of these choices, but – since it seems that everything I do is in some way influenced by the temperature outside my door – no big surprise there. Though I think it's all quite ace, as far as highlights go, I'm still pretty obsessed with the Autocollants track (so much so that the mix is named in it's honor). The horns just couldn't be more perfect and although my voice doesn't quite have the range of a brass instrument, I still find myself humming the melody everytime. The songs from Gaze and Mazzy Star could make you cry and if anything you're like me, you'll be in awe of Alison's Halo. All in all, I'd consider it a fantastic use of 45 minutes of your day or night.
